Import And Export
FerventMind opens maps from other apps, and exports maps as text, outlines, pictures and other mind-map formats.
Open Maps From Other Apps
These open read-only. Choose Edit a Copy to keep working on one as a FerventMind map; the original file is never changed.
- iThoughts (.itmz)
- OPML (.opml)
- Markdown (.md, .markdown) and plain text (.txt)
- FreeMind (.mm)
- XMind (.xmind)
- MindNode (.mindnode), with its images
Open them from the Library, or from Finder or the Files app.
Export A Map
- On the Mac: File ▸ Export, or the Export menu in the toolbar. Markdown is ⇧⌘E.
- On iPhone and iPad: More ▸ Share to send a map, or More ▸ Save to Files.
The formats are Markdown, OPML, Plain Text, CSV, Web Page (HTML), FreeMind and XMind, plus PDF and Image (PNG) pictures. Text exports include notes and links when Settings ▸ Export says so, and use the recognised text of handwritten cards.
Export Part Of A Map
Select a topic and choose Topic ▸ Export Branch for just that branch, or Topic ▸ Copy As ▸ Markdown, Plain Text or Picture to paste it elsewhere.
Export Many Maps
The Library's Export… writes the selected maps, a folder or the whole library, one file per map, in the same subfolders. See Your Library And iCloud.
Styles
Style sets export as .fvstyle files from Map Style… ▸ Style Sets, and can be imported on another device or shared.
