Getting Started
-
Getting Started
FerventMind is a mind-mapping app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. A map starts with one central topic, and you build out from it: ideas, points, tasks and notes, arranged so you can see how they connect.
-
Moving From iThoughts
FerventMind opens maps made in iThoughts (.itmz files) exactly as they were drawn, and never changes them. To keep working on one, you edit a FerventMind copy.
-
Your Library And iCloud
The Library lists every map in the folder you choose, plus your FerventMind folder, and searches them all at once.
Making Maps
-
Building A Map
Add topics with a key or a tap, then shape the map with relationships, boundaries, callouts, icons and images.
-
Outline And Notes
Every map is also an outline, and every topic can carry a note. Switch between the map and the outline at any time; they are the same map.
-
Styles, Palettes And Canvases
A map's style sets its layout, link lines, colours, fonts and canvas. FerventMind comes with 36 styles, and you can save your own as style sets.
-
Templates
A template is a map to start from. FerventMind includes two, and any map can become one.
-
Keyboard Shortcuts
On a Mac, or an iPad with a keyboard, most of the map can be built without the pointer. These keys work when the map has the keyboard; while you type in a topic they edit the text. On the Mac, Help ▸ Keyboard Shortcuts shows this list in a window.
Messages And Teaching
-
Message Maps
A message map is a talk, sermon or lesson laid out as a map: the passage at the centre, the points around it, and your study notes beside it. The Message template starts one for you.
-
Named Text
Named text is wording you write once and use in several places in a map. Change it in one place and every topic that uses it changes too.
-
Presenter Mode And Recording
Presenter Mode shows your map one branch at a time, with the time, a countdown, speaker notes and an optional recording of yourself.
-
Pencil Cards (iPad)
On iPad, Pencil mode turns topics into index cards you write on with Apple Pencil. Your handwriting stays on the card, and the text is recognised so the map can still be searched and exported.
Links, Import And Export
-
Links, Spotlight And Shortcuts
Open a map, or one topic in it, from another map, Spotlight, the Shortcuts app, a widget, or another of your devices.
-
Import And Export
FerventMind opens maps from other apps, and exports maps as text, outlines, pictures and other mind-map formats.
Purchases And Privacy
-
Unlock Editing
Opening, reading, presenting and exporting maps are always free. Unlock Editing to make and change maps on all your devices.
-
Privacy
FerventMind collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and FerventMind has no servers that receive your maps.
