Presenter Mode And Recording

Presenter Mode shows your map one branch at a time, with the time, a countdown, speaker notes and an optional recording of yourself.

Start Presenting

  • Mac: View ▸ Presenter Mode (⌥⌘P), or Present in the toolbar.
  • iPad: Present in the toolbar. iPhone: More ▸ Present.

The map is read-only while you present, and the screen stays awake. Presenting works on any map, including ones you can't edit.

Step Through The Map

Press Space or → for the next topic, ⇧Space or ← for the previous one, and Home or End for the first or last. Each step frames its branch; folded branches are skipped. Settings ▸ Presenting can dim the other branches while you step.

Turn on Notes in the bar to see each topic's note as speaker notes.

Countdown

Set the minutes in the bar and choose Start Countdown. It turns red when you run over. The default length is in Settings ▸ Presenting, and a map can have its own in Map Style… ▸ Map ▸ Presenting.

On an iPhone held upright the bar is shorter: set the minutes with − and +, and start or stop the countdown with the play and stop buttons.

Plan Timing And Pace

Choose Plan Timing… to give each part of the talk its minutes. While you present, the bar shows which part you should be in, how long is left in it, and whether you are ahead or behind.

Record Yourself

Choose Record. The first time, FerventMind asks to use the microphone. The bar shows the elapsed time and a level meter: green is good, amber is loud, red clips.

  • Recordings are saved as audio files named after the map and the time, in iCloud Drive ▸ FerventMind ▸ Recordings, or a folder you choose in Settings ▸ Presenting.
  • With Start the countdown and recording together on, starting either starts both, and stopping either stops both.
  • On iPhone and iPad a phone call pauses the recording, which carries on afterwards.
  • Leaving Presenter Mode while recording asks first; the recording so far is saved.

Recordings stay on your device or in your iCloud Drive. If you turned the microphone off for FerventMind, turn it back on in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Microphone.
