Styles, Palettes And Canvases
A map's style sets its layout, link lines, colours, fonts and canvas. FerventMind comes with 36 styles, and you can save your own as style sets.
Choose A Style
Choose Map Style… in the Map menu (Map ▸ Map Style… on iPhone and iPad) and open Style Sets. Choose a style and Apply to This Map, or Use for New Maps. The built-in styles include Foundation (the default for new maps), Chalk Talk, Kraft, Watercolour, Blueprint, Dot Journal and High Contrast.
Change The Look
The other tabs of Map Style… change one map:
- Map: the layout, Hand Drawn shapes, Auto Align, compact spacing, and the links between topics (straight, curved, tapered and more).
- Color: full colour or wireframe, the canvas (paper, patterns, dark and plain colours, or an image of your own), link opacity and rainbow branches.
- General: callouts and the notes font.
Select a branch and choose Branch Layout… to lay out just that branch differently.
Save Your Own Style Sets
- Save Map as New Set… keeps the map's look as a style set, in iCloud Drive ▸ FerventMind ▸ Styles, on all your devices.
- A map can follow a set: change the set with Update from This Map, and every map that follows it changes too. The last 5 versions of each set are kept under Earlier Versions.
- Import… brings in style sets (.fvstyle) and iThoughts styles (.itmz-style).
Named Styles
A named style is a look you can give to any topic: select a topic, then Topic ▸ Named Style ▸ New Style from Selection…. Change it once with Redefine Style from Selection and every topic using it changes. A named style can be applied automatically to topics that match its rule. Named styles are listed in Map Setup.
Colour Palettes
Settings ▸ Colors and Styles ▸ Color Palettes holds the palettes shown in the Color popover. Add your own; they appear on all your devices.
